Our President
Rev. Dr. Tremaine Combs
Rev. Dr. Tremaine M. Combs was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1982 to Rev. Dr. Michael W. Combs and Dr. Gwendolyn M. Combs. He accepted Christ in 1989 at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Lincoln and answered the call to ministry in 2000, later being licensed to preach in 2002.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies with a minor in Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis in 2004, where he was actively involved in student leadership and became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He went on to earn a Master of Divinity from Eden Theological Seminary in 2007 and later completed a Doctor of Ministry at Virginia University of Lynchburg, focusing on the Gospel as a therapeutic model for healing trauma within the church.
Ordained in 2007, Rev. Dr. Combs has faithfully served congregations in Missouri and Nebraska, including planting DaySpring Church in St. Charles, Missouri, before returning to Lincoln in 2019 to pastor Mount Zion Baptist Church. His ministry is marked by a passion for biblical teaching, Christian formation, leadership development, and community engagement.
Throughout his ministry, Rev. Dr. Combs has served in numerous local, state, and national leadership roles, including with the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc., the Nebraska Commission on African American Affairs, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He is also the author of three books: The Theology of the Early Church: A Short Exposition, Eight Simple Steps: The Beatitudes as a Call to Deeper Discipleship, and For Training in Godliness: A Catechism for the Development of Discipleship and Christian Living.
Today, Rev. Dr. Combs serves as the President of the New Era Baptist State Convention of Nebraska, Inc., where he is dedicated to equipping churches, empowering leaders, strengthening Christian education, and advancing Kingdom work throughout Nebraska.
Rev. Dr. Combs is blessed to share his life and ministry with his wife, Lady Tierra Combs, and together they are the proud parents of five children. As a husband, father, pastor, and servant leader, he remains committed to faithfully serving God, His Church, and the community with wisdom, compassion, and excellence.
